I am pretty sure that the HSE ran a similar campaign back in 2010, busting silly H&S myths.

A powerful 8.6 magnitude earthquake and a series of strong aftershocks struck off Indonesia on Wednesday, sending people scurrying from buildings as far away as southern India, but there seemed little risk of a disastrous tsunami as in 2004.

Welcome to Safety City Newswire #3

This week we have an article from one of regular contributors, Mark Wigley at Meducate First Aid Training

According to statistics recently released by the Health and Safety Executive twice as many Essex people suffered work related deaths last year as the previous year!

Six people were fatally injured in the Essex area which accounted for more than half he total for the entire Eastern Region.

Serious work-related injuries were also up on the previous year in Essex which is goes against the trend for the rest of the region where the numbers have fallen.

Employers have a legal duty to protect workers and to take sensible precautions to reduce workplace injuries. One of the ways for employers to reduce the severity and long-term impact of workplace injuries is to make sure they are up to date with their first aid provision making sure they have enough First Aiders for their working environment.

The HSE introduced a new 1 day Emergency First Aid Course back in 2009 which is a fantastic course for training up large numbers of workplace First Aiders.

Not only will those attending the course learn essential First Aid skills including the latest techniques for delivering CPR it will also help instil in them a greater degree of responsibility and care over themselves and their co-workers.

For more information on booking a First Aid Course please visit www.meducatetraining.co.uk or phone 08445 674019

Safety City Newswire #2 – September 2011

Welcome to Safety City Newswire #2

Prices for consumer goods are continuing to rise whilst at the same time households are coming under increasing pressures with balancing budgets.

Household cleaning chemicals take up a large proportion of any family’s weekly grocery bill.

Buying items such as cleaners and dishwashing products in bulk is a great way to save money for anyone. The more you buy the more you save!

Why not get together with other households in your extended family or with other neighbours to increase your buying power to save even more money on these type of products.

Many online retailers offer great savings and free delivery when you order a minimum amount from them.

So why not talk to other family members and neighbours to put together a shopping list of all the products you buy on a regular basis to see what potential savings you can make by placing one bulk order!

www.safetycity.co.uk is one online retailer that offers great prices on all types of household cleaning products and we offer a low delivery charge of £6.95 per order plus free delivery on orders over £100.
